The Outcome..

Considering all the hurdels we had towards the end of this project... I feel it went as well as it could of. We managed to get our models and I styled them in an appropriate way which will reflect out given object: Dominos.

I would of uploaded some of the pictures to show how they turned out-however I do not have the images, Gemma and Mark do. We went through all the images two days ago and edited them down to just 5, it was very difficult as there were so many we liked however the set of 5 which we chose work really well together as a group of images and although each picture is quite different in terms of styling and pose and even colour- the images all work as a story and have a nice feel to them.

I have really enjoyed working with Gemma and Mark on this project but just wish the volcano didnt impact us as much as it did as it caused a lot of stress when reorganising models, studio and make up artists! Oh well... hopefully next time this won't happen :)

The two official models!

Naomi Havergal & Ayesha Jones

Due to my flight being changed and all the dates having to be messed around again- our model Abbie Hackney unfortunatly cannot model for us anymore. So Gemma has found a last minute model- Naomi Havergal. She is a white model and as it was quite last minute we decided to re-work the idea and instead of having to black models having one white and one black. We thought it might be a nice contrast and reflect the dominos idea very well....

Hair styling..

These headbands i brought from Claires Accessories and used them in most of my images with the models hair tied up in a very tight bun. I slicked their hair back with a lot of hair spray to give it a very smooth effect and allow the headband to stand out more...

The Styling

Black Mini Ruffle Tutu I brought for the shoot-able to create a lot of free movement White Mini Ruffle Tutu I brought for shoot (same as black) Both skirt are from New Look and were £20 each.

Find them here: http://www.newlook.com/shop/womens/skirts/mini-ruffle-tutu_194769501?icSort=-bestSellerScore

Ok so I wanted to use just black and white garments. Keep it very simple and bring in a lot of movement and use fabrics which would show this.

MOVEMENT- I felt the movement of the clothes in the images could reflect the movement in dominos when they collapse against each other. I want the images to show movement.

Body painting..

In a controversial shoot from French Vogue magazine, model Lara Stone was painted black from head to toe. The images are quite interesting and shocking...They have enormous impact when you look at them.

In spring 2003 RTW show, John Galliano painted his models blue.. (Pictured above)

At the end of the day it is experimental body painting... it's fashion right?

A few more Geisha just because I really like them..

This is a link to an interesting video I found on Youtube where is shows you how to apply the Geisha style make up.. Take a look!

Geisha Girl..?

She paints her face to hide her face. Her eyes are deep water. It is not for Geisha to want. It is not for Geisha to feel. Geisha is an artist of the floating world. She dances, she sings. She entertains you, whatever you want. The rest is shadows, the rest is secret.
- Memoirs Of A Geisha by Arther Golden
Vivenne Westwoods inspriation seems as though it could of originated from the Geisha Girl which she has taken and re created in her own way. We are going to use this makeup idea in a few of our own shots. I think painted Ayeshas face white will look very effective since her skin in dark and will bring in the aspect of race. This also relates back to the post I did a few weeks back on a French issue of Vogue where they had a white model and painted her black. Very striking and shocking image which was extremly compelling.

Vivienne Westwood inspires..

Ok so I was flicking through a magazine whilst sat at the hairdressers in Dubai and saw this fashion report..
The painted white faces by Vivenne Westwood really inspired me and I thought this could be a great idea for makeup in our shoot. Emphasising on the race aspect we are subtley including. I think the white faces would look very effective on both black skin and white. Especially with bright red lips..

Volcano interrups again..

So... I was still stuck in Dubai due to be flying back to the UK on Monday however they rescheduled my flight AGAIN due to all the back log they were having to deal with. So I suffer again and have to inform Mark and Gemma I will not be back not until the 28th (Wednesday) so we had to reschedule the whole shoot again- inform the models and the MUA that the date had changed again.

Unfortunatly due to this our model Abbie could not make the 28th and sam with our MUA Jennie King who was also unable to make this new date.

So we were put in a very difficult position and had gone from having everything set up, ready to go- to having only one model and ourselves.

I contacted 3 other MUA's both on the website modelmayhem and also on facebook as I head reccomendations on a few... However only one MUA got back to me and was busy that day and the other two did not bother to reply.

So I dedided to do both the hair and make up by myself..
